The World’s first echidna launched 30,000m into space!

November 23, 2016 By admin

On Sat the 3rd of December 2016, the toy Echidna, ‘Anstey’ – beloved mascot from the Library – was sent into space in a weather balloon.  “Anstey” went on a 30,000m journey into space.  This was a joint effort with the Library and the Historical Society which funded the flight, to encourage children that History doesn’t have to be dull and boring!

There were space talks, space – themed craft activities and a live cross to the launch site from the Library.
